Mudlarked nail brooch - blue by Liz Willis

The mudlarked nail was handmade a few hundred years ago, and would have been used for boat building or housing. Liz has formed the  silver to reflect the shape of the nail, then uses handstitched silk threads to join the nail and the silver together.

Liz Willis is showing an exclusive range of jewellery as one of our Lovedazzle guest designers. All pieces are available to purchase until 12th January 2025.

Features

  • Primary Material : Mudlarked nail
  • Other Materials : Silk thread and stainless steel pin
  • Pin Type : pin
  • Dimensions (mm) : 55x50x10

The silver has been pumiced & then sealed with renaissance wax, so if pieces are wrapped up when not wearing the silver should not tarnish, but the silver can be polished with a soft silver polishing cloth if needed. The silk can be cleaned with a weak solution of laundry hand wash liquid, use it with a soft toothbrush to give a light scrub, then rinse & leave to dry naturally. An after care service is available if you are unsure of cleaning.
