Jane Adam
Jane Adam has been making jewellery for over forty years. Her work can be seen in major galleries, exhibitions, public collections such as the V&A Museum and the Goldsmiths’ Company and, most importantly, being worn by her many collectors, internationally.
In the early years of her practice, her jewellery was usually made in coloured anodised aluminium. She made extensive research into the qualities and possibilities of the metal, and its extraordinary versatility is evident in her work.
She now works with precious metals as well as aluminium, pushing and stretching them so that form and texture evolve as she works – a much more organic process which relies less on a predetermined outcome.
Jane was born in London and studied at Manchester Polytechnic and the Royal College of Art. She has taught and lectured in Taiwan, Portugal, India, China, the USA and throughout the UK. She was a founder, Vice Chair and Chair of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery, a trustee and co-vice chair of the Crafts Council and a trustee of Cockpit Arts, London, where she had her studio for many years before moving in 2015 to her own purpose-built studio in south-west London.
Jane Adam is showing an exclusive range of her aluminium jewellery as one of our guest designers over the festive season. All pieces are available to purchse until 14th January 2024.
